Birds

Of the many types of birds that make their home in Tasmania, 12 are species found nowhere else in the world.
Other are sub-species endemics, such as the wedge-tail eagle or breeding endemics - the orange-bellied parrot, one of the world’s most endangered birds. Each season orange-bellied parrots can be spotted at Port Davey in the South-West National Park. If the 40-spotted pardalote has not been crossed off your spotter list, then head to Bruny or Maria islands of the island's east coast.
