Black-Headed Honeyeater

Melithreptus affinus

The black-headed honeyeater is between 12 and 14 centimetres (five and six inches) tall, with a black head and throat and a small, whitish eye crescent. It has a distinctive sharp whistle.

The bird is found in forests, coastal heaths and gardens.

Its nests are made of grass, hair and fur and are bound with spiders' webs. It lays two to three pale pink, spotted red-brown eggs.
