Plan your trip

What is a touring route?

These are self-drive trails that allow you to get a taste of a small region in a short time. Some can be undertaken in a day, while others, due to distance, take two or more days to be explored.

Tasmania has been divided into 11 touring routes, each with its own experience.

From Hobart, you can explore the Huon Trail and the Convict Trail as day trips. Although staying overnight in the regions gives you a richer experience. The Heritage Highway) is a great day trip to take you from Hobart to Launceston.

Using Launceston as your base you can explore the Tamar Valley and the Great Western Tiers Tourist Route as day trips. Others, such as the West Coast Wilderness Way and the Great Nature Trail need more than a day to complete.

The Touring Routes link into a loop around the island and provide you with a plan to ensure you discover all that Tasmania has to offer and if you don’t get around it this time, there’s always another time.
