Where is Tasmania and how can I get there?

Tasmania is Australia's only island State, lying 240 kilometres (150 miles) southeast of mainland Australia. Bass Strait, the Southern Ocean and the Tasman Sea surround it. Antarctica is just 2,000 kilometres (1,243 miles) to the south.
All major domestic airlines and passenger ships service Tasmania daily. The superfast passenger and vehicle ferries the Spirit of Tasmania I and II depart nightly from Melbourne and Devonport (in Tasmania’s north).
