Richmond Valley Retreat is a tasteful, modern, self-contained vineyard property two kilometres (1.2 miles) from Richmond. Richmond Valley Retreat has a fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher, laundry, ironing facilities, and a second toilet.
The master bedroom has a king-sized bed and spa ensuite. With a sofa bed in the living area, the retreat can sleep up to four people. Heating and cooling is provided by a reverse-cycle heat pump. Windows are tinted for privacy and fly screens ensure you can enjoy the breeze in comfort.
Continental breakfast provisions are provided, including a plunger and espresso machine. Enjoy a complimentary gift basket of Tasmanian jams, fudge and wine.
Set on five acres, the retreat has sweeping views of Mt Wellington. You can barbecue a meal on the veranda or in the garden, where native plants and birdfeeders encourage birdlife.
Richmond’s well-preserved colonial jail built in 1825 predates the settlement of Port Arthur by five years. The famous convict-built Richmond Bridge spans the Coal River, which has given its name to a wine district with a growing reputation for its cool climate wines. Drop in for tastings at cellar doors on a drive to Hobart, or take an organised winery tour.
