Diving with Dragons

Sea Dragons in the waters of Tasmania

Seadragons and other Syngnathidae attract a lot of attention because of their etherial appearance. To ensure they remain safe in the wild and to reduce your impact on these marvellous animals:

  • look but don’t touch
  • leave them where they are
  • do not herd them from their home range
  • do not move them up and down the water column
  • take special care with egg-carrying males
  • turn lights down – keep flashes to three or four per encounter.
