Hang Gliding and Flying Fox

Experience the exhilaration of unpowered flight as you ride the swells that roll off our peaks.
  • Catch the thermals that spiral up from the plains of wide valleys.
  • Launch yourself into our breathtaking silence.
Have you ever wanted to soar through the treetops or glide on the swells that roll off mountain peaks? In Tasmania you'll feel the freedom of a bird as you take flight on a flying fox or hang glide smoothly through the air.

Hollybanks Treetop Adventure takes you on a flying fox adventure over breathtaking Tasmanian forest and the Piper River. For almost one kilometre you'll soar, stopping to admire the view on several 'cloud stations' or tree platforms along the way.

There are a number of gliding clubs in Tasmania that you can contact directly. On the other hand, you may have always wanted to try gliding, but under controlled conditions. In Launceston's Cataract Gorge you can do just that. Soar off the edge of an 18 metre high cliff face (59 foot) above Trevallyn Dam on a cable hang glider.

In Tasmania's south you can also gain a bird's eye view cable hang gliding over the Southern Forests and Huon River. Located near the Tahune Forest Airwalk, you'll glide over 800 metres of pristine Tasmanian wilderness.
