Tasmania is the cradle of Australia's historic buildings; our isolation, small population and a strong community connection has meant our heritage has been preserved. So where ever you travel you will discover stunning examples of Georgian architecture. Some are open to the public others are in private hands, and they tell the story of those early settlers and their vision to create their own piece of home at the end of the world.
The National Trust of Australia (Tasmania) cares for buildings that preserve Australia's history and highlight architecture that's unusual, interesting and beautiful.
The Tasmanian Heritage Pass sells for AUD33 for adults; AUD27.50 for pensioner/concession (accompanied children are free). The Pass give you access to any Tasmanian historic property over a three-month period. There are seven vouchers with eight sites to choose from, including National Trust operated sites and Entally Estate, Hadspen, west of Launceston.
The Tasmania's Great Colonial Houses Pass sells for AUD24/person or AUD50/family. The Pass give you access to Clarendon House, near Evandale, Woolmers Estate at Longford, and Entally Estate.
Each year, in April or May, the National Trust promotes the Tasmanian Heritage Festival, which features tours, walks, exhibitions and activities celebrating Tasmania's history and heritage.
