Tasmania's island isolation breeds a unique creative spirit. Design Island is a program that showcases this creativity and celebrates the island State's emerging young artists.
As an initiative of Arts Tasmania, Design Island also fosters and promotes that work, giving these young designers exposure throughout Australia and the world.

Now in its fourth year, Design Island has grown from year-to-year and has offered Tasmanian practitioners many great opportunites. Previous years' programs are listed by Arts Tasmania in

We are at the edge of a design-driven future; a future where designers’ skills drive innovation. In 2009, Design Island asks: how are designers and craftspeople building on and moving beyond their traditional practice paradigms? Exceptional designers who are leading the exploration into innovation and sustainability are invited to join in revealing new and edgy creative partnerships and practices.
