Tasmania is the easiest place to explore if you are travelling with a pack on your back. Distances are relatively short, economical coach transport covers most of our main points of interest, and the locals are friendly. Our backpacker lodges and youth hostels are the best places to meet people just like you to share stories and travel ideas.
Room types vary from lodge to lodge. Some offer dormitory rooms; others provide a choice of dormitory, double, twin and single rooms. In most cases, bathroom and kitchen facilities are shared and there are communal dining, kitchen and living areas. Many offer laundry facilities.
