The Sculpture Trail takes place on Five Bob, a farm which has views of the D'entrecasteaux channel framed by eucalyptus forest and rolling farm land. Each year the tranquil setting and quiet chatter of birds give way in part to the chatter of visitors walking the Benchmarking Birchs Bay Sculpture Prize.

Annually local artists display their work….. an exciting mix of strange geometric figures lurching down the hill on spindly legs – wild flowers in a proliferation of metal – timber, ceramics, steel, whimsy and defiance…..

Take a scenic drive 40 minutes south of Hobart, and you can find yourself at Five Bob, the venue for the eighth Benchmarking Birchs Bay Sculpture Prize.

Viewing this year’s entrants and seeing those pieces from the past, that now live permanently on the trail could take all day, or you might just power walk around in twenty minutes! Do that and you will want to come back again before the trail closes at the end of June.

The pieces are installed on a 1.5 kilometre long trail, with spectacular mountain and channel views - a unique gallery experience, all of the work displayed are for sale. So grab some friends, maybe a picnic and the dog - if it is well behaved and on a leash - make a day of it.
