A wild and warped invented mythology of Tasmania and its curious inhabitants.
Briellen Feeney explores Tasmania as a metaphorical imprisonment, softy haunting its encaged characters. Theatricalising her depictions of relevant encounters, silent and hidden away amidst a wild and warped island.
Elia explores Tasmania as a metaphor for nothing. Heavenly imagery is juxtaposed with hellish, referencing the contrast between the fruitfulness of the Tasmanian landscape and the insecurities and anxieties that people bring to it. These paintings revive the art of story-telling through creating a mythology for the island, incorporating old tales of its dwellers and their closed chapters.
