Boxer, Builder's Labourer...
Celebrated Australian Poet
Geoff Goodfellow is no ordinary poet, having also been a boxer, builder’s labourer and now cancer survivor. This is poetry as you have never heard it before.
Geoff is a walking contradiction. He writes with a ‘contrived simplicity’, detailing the lives of seemingly ordinary people. His work often provides a public voice for those living close to the margins and who are generally under-represented in contemporary literature.
As the Herald Sun 2011 stated, “People’s poet Geoff Goodfellow knows how to boil down life’s raw and tender moments into a few poignant words. Like his nine collections of poetry, it’s inspirational.”
Geoff has just returned from a North American reading tour, performing at the Vancouver Island University, York University in Toronto, and giving classes and readings at Penn State University in Philadelphia, where he received rave reviews. And now, is set to wow audiences in Burnie and Rosebery.
Geoff Goodfellow’s readings are astonishingly powerful and at times funny. A long way from the dry, dense, difficult works in many poetry books. He resonates with all who have the privilege of hearing him speak and should definitely not be missed!
