Argentinean-born Sol Gabetta is one of the most versatile cellists of her generation having performed and recorded works by Vivaldi, Haydn, Elgar and Shostakovich to widespread acclaim. An artist who has appeared with many of the world’s leading orchestras, she makes her debut with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra as soloist in Haydn’s celebrated Cello Concerto in C major. Marko Letonja has a natural affinity with Slavic music. He brings his unique insights to Smetana’s Má vlast (My homeland) – musical portraits of the Czech lands – and the Little Suite by Polish composer Witold Lutoslawski, whose centenary is commemorated this year.
