An adventure race through the Tasmanian mountains and wilderness - endorsed by Australia’s Formula 1 driving sensation Mark Webber.
The gruelling physical and mental five day adventure race will feature the traditional mountain biking, trail running, abseiling, river paddling, diving and orienterring and some still secret activites.
The course will be designed to not only test the elite athlete, but to provide an opportunity for the less “hard core” adventure sports enthusiasts to compete and challenge themselves.
This year, the Challenge starts in Launceston on November 28. Day two includes a series of challenges at Ben Lomond, while days three and four will be spent on the East Coast around St Marys and the Bay of Fires.
The race finishes on the Sunday in Hobart, with the winners expected to cross the finish line at the Henry Jones Art Hotel about 2.30pm.
A record of 40 teams will compete in 2012. Australian Olympic gold medallist and world champion kayaker Ken Wallace and Olympic triathlete Courtney Atkinson will compete.
