The Oatlands Festival is a feature event of Oatlands (a township in the Southern Midlands Municipality in Tasmania), showcasing the historical charm of Oatlands. Our festival showcases the depth and variety of local talent and our community spirit which makes our town such a great place to live, work and play in.
Oatlands has the largest collection of sandstone buildings in Australia, and many of its old cottages are now cafes, antique stores or restaurants. Visit the town’s signature landmark, the striking sandstone Callington Mill (1837); it is a fully operational wind driven flour mill, once again grinding flour.
The Oatlands Festival formally known as Oatlands Open Day has been a success of the Oatlands Township since 2001 and continues to grow with each year.
The annual Oatlands festival provides fun for the whole family with competitions, exhibitions, vintage automobile show, entertainment, kids activities, festival market and street march; with visitors being invited to dress in period costume for 1820 1920 with the chance of a prize for most authentic. Children are welcome to just dress up in your favourite character or dress just for fun and are most welcome to take part in the street march at noon.
Some come along and join us for a family fun day out!
