The Redwater Creek Steam and Heritage Society offer a heritage rail experience through the regular operation of a century old Krauss locomotive.
The Railway began as a community building enterprise almost twenty years ago and is well regarded for the restoration and preservation of steam-era machinery and local history. The Railton-Roland line was opened in 1914 and offered daily passenger services and twice weekly goods service until 1957.
The steam museum on site houses a comprehensive member’s collection of working steam engines which can be viewed on running days.
The train leaves each half hour from Sheffield station from 11am to 4pm on the first full weekend of each month. The number of passengers enjoying the nostalgic journey has more than doubled from the previous year, catering for the increased demand for educational holiday activities and school groups. The Redwater Creek Railway is profitable and sustainable, but most importantly retains our heritage in an authentic environment.
