The Morning Night are a young West Australian six-piece with a distinctive landscape rock/pop sound who draw inspiration from the iconic Australiana songbooks of outfits like The Church, The Triffids and The Stems. Their glorious harmonies, fresh with the energy of a new generation, set The Morning Night beyond what you’ve heard before, and bring a compelling and new alchemy of the sounds of then and now.
The Morning Night find their home in the Port City of Fremantle and the heart of the port echoes through the band's rhythm and honest lyrics. Adrian Hoffmann (vocals/guitar) formed the band in highschool and is now joined by Chloe McGrath (vocals/keys), Michael Savage (bass), Brendan Gaspari (guitar), Ed Smith (violin/guitar) and Jesse Brown (drums).
Their 2009 EP 'Decide What You Want' achieved an early career highpoint with the single receiving both national airplay and accolades such as Drum Media Perth's single of the week and a spot on FBi Radio's top releases of the year. The sound has now matured, and is far richer and even more distinctive on their debut album (Otis) produced by the charismatic Ricky Maymi (The Brian Jonestown Massacre) and released in April 2012 through Walking Horse Music/MGM. Otis was RTR FM's local feature album and the singles A Ride With Violence, Calm Me Down and Someday have received national airplay on Triple J, RTR, FBi and community stations around Australia, and the album also received a four-star review in The Australian.
The Morning Night flourished this year as they toured Otis and cemented new fans on both sides of the Nullarbor with key support gigs. They joined Jill Birt (The Triffids) on her Render & Prosper solo album tour and Davey Lane (You Am I) showcasing songs from his forthcoming solo album The Good Borne of Bad Tymes. They also stepped up to impress new audiences with Dave Graney, the Toot Toot Toots and The Dandy Warhols' after party, clearly winning over unfamiliar listeners. December brought new friends with their support of The Blackeyed Susans on their infamous Christmas shows in Perth.
