Beauty Point

Beauty Point is a quaint little town by the Tamar River in the state’s north east.

What’s special about Beauty Point?

  • Its attractions include Platypus House and Seahorse World.
  • It has strong maritime ties and is home to the Australian Maritime College
Beauty Point is a great destination if you like discovering nearby vineyards, learning about maritime history and meeting fascinating wildlife. Seahorse World and Platypus House both offer intriguing insight into these two allusive creatures.

Beauty Point boasts the Australian Maritime College which provides certified crew to the worldwide International Luxury Yacht and Merchant Marine fleets as well as a host of other maritime courses. The campus houses more than 100 residential students. The town is also the departure point for the annual Launceston to Hobart (L2H) Yacht Race and the grueling Three Peaks Race offshore sailing and mountain running event - a sister event to the UK Three Peaks Yacht Race, recognised as one of the greatest adventure challenges in British sport.

Tucked away just a few minutes’ drive from Beaconsfield, (which rose to fame after two miners were rescued after spending two weeks trapped underground in 2006), Beauty Point is a convenient base to explore offerings of the north east region. Visit the Beaconsfield Mine and Heritage Centre, choose a day walk in Narawntapu National Park or Notley Fern Gorge, take a penguin tour or a Tamar River cruise.

A nice selection of accommodation is available in and around the town for you to choose from.
