Ferns, Fungi and Waterfalls nature photography tour
This is a nature photography experience for you to discover techniques for low-light, close-up and waterfall photography in a natural rainforest environment.
You will be surrounded by tree-ferns providing many an opportunity for creative photography – the colours, patterns and textures of the fern fronds, water droplets on the foliage and beautiful fungi (mushrooms) emerging from the nutrient rich forest floor.
Plenty of stops along the way including a waterfall where you can practice different techniques to capture a soft flowing effect of water as it tumbles over the edge. Along the way, you may encounter some native wildlife too!
Operates daily by request. 9am to 12 noon or 1.30pm to 4.30pm. Cost: $120.00 per person for a half-day experience.
Chalet to the Organ Pipes Nature Photography Tour
Atop Mount Wellington sits the Chalet picnic hut and the iconic Organ Pipes and walking track.
Throughout this walk at 1,000m (3,280ft.) above sea level on the upper Southern slopes of Mount Wellington, you will have plenty of time to experiment with different techniques and camera settings to help achieve better photos. You will be guided by Roy Vieth, a photographer with more than 35 years’ experience so he'll have some hints and tips for you along the way.
The environment of sub-alpine woodland offers a myriad of landscape and nature photography opportunities including vistas of Hobart, the iconic Organ Pipes towering above, seasonal native wildflowers, colourful berries and birdlife. Misty days won't disappoint. There's a certain eeriness of photographing snow gums in the fog and there's always some great close-up subjects too.
Taking a break along the track just below the very impressive organ pipes, we retrace our steps returning to 'The Chalet' for a hot beverage and photography discussion.
Meeting Point: "The Chalet" Pinnacle Road, Wellington Park
