Bruny Island Kelp Forests
This day trip is a highly scenic tour to the rainforests of the sea – the kelp forests of Bruny Island.
Giant String Kelp can grow 30 centimetres in a day, and creates beautiful forests that stretch from the sea floor to the surface in depths from 3-20 metres, providing home and shelter for a wide range of marine life.
Head down the river and past the Iron Pot, into Storm Bay and down towards Cape Queen Elizabeth. There are spectacular views across Storm Bay to the cliffs of Cape Raoul and you can regularly see dolphins and sea eagles at the dive sites. You will anchor in a shallow and sheltered location suitable for both snorkelers and scuba divers.
Seeing the sunlight filter through the kelp and watching the fish that shelter within the forest is a unique snorkel or scuba experience that’s not to be missed.
Departs 9:00am and returns 3:00pm on Mondays, Fridays and Sundays. Minimum of 4 people, maximum of 8. Cost is $145 for adults, and $130.50 for concession. Includes light refreshments and use of wetsuit and snorkelling equipment. This tour is also available as a Scuba Discovery experience for non-divers. Contact operator for more information.

Scuba divers will see extensive beds of sea pens, sea whips and sea fans and sponges.
Head down the river to the top of the D’Entrecasteaux Channel, passing the Alum Cliffs, Kingston Beach and Blackmans Bay on the way. Anchor is a shallow, sheltered spot where there is so much to see for snorkelers and scuba divers of all experience levels.

An alternative to a formal dinner cruise, this is the sort of experience you'd enjoy with friends. There's nothing else like it. Warm dress recommended. The activities will be adapted to suit the conditions so bring a spirit of adventure.
