Our roads are more winding and hilly than those in mainland Australia, especially on the east and west coasts. There are also very few freeway or motorways, which makes for a more varied and exciting journey.

All ‘A’ and ‘B’ roads are sealed – there are few places where you’d have to ride on unsealed surfaces. Take great care in the early morning and at dusk, when wildlife is often active on country roads. Our weather can change fast, so come prepared for all-season riding, and check local conditions, especially on exposed and elevated roads, where frost, ice and snow can occur.

The Tasmanian Motorcycle Council's website offers advice on motorcyling in Tasmania along with latest news and upcoming events.

Richardsons Harley Davidson Museum and Cafe, in Westbury (Highway 54 between Launceston and Deloraine) has been operating since 1980 and the collection includes a A6 Flannery-Harley-Gallion Co. pushbike, from 1900, and a 1940 Ex-Army Indian Scout.

A number of operators offer tours and vehicle hire.
